Question: How long have you worked in Lansing USD469?
Answer: This is my 3rd year.
Question: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and the role you have within the school district?
Answer: I was born in Wisconsin, but have lived in Kansas for almost 15 years, and I currently live in Lawrence. I graduated from KU, where I was very active in the marching and pep bands. This is my 3rd year teaching.
Question: What do you enjoy most about your role and the work you do in the school district?
Answer: I love working with students each day, and getting to watch them grow throughout the year. I also love interacting and talking with students, and getting to know more about them as individuals. Each student brings a unique personality to the school and no two days are the same! They keep me on my toes!
Question: When you're not working, what hobbies or activities do you enjoy?
Answer: I enjoy roller skating, reading, and playing video games. I also love trying out new crafting skills, though drawing/painting are my favorites!
Question: What is something unusual about you that most people don't know?
Answer: I'm the youngest of 7 and we're all spread across 5 different states! I have also been teaching myself morse code (because why not?)
Question: Could you share a particularly heartwarming or memorable experience you've had while working with students or colleagues?
Answer:Last year, Ms. Bosley and I hid mini ducks around LIS for staff members to find. We kept the ruse going for awhile, even planting false leads towards Mr. Jerry and other staff members to brush off accusations. Eventually, people caught on, but it was a lot of fun while it lasted!
Question: What piece of advice would you like to offer to students to help them succeed and make the most of their educational journey?
Answer: Always give your best, try something new, and do what makes you happy. It's never too late!
