Lansing High School student Cael Spear is putting his skills to the test as part of the Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) Construction Program. This hands-on learning experience is helping students, like Cael, develop valuable trade skills that will serve them well in future careers.
Currently, construction students are focusing on mastering the art of trim work. They are learning to measure, cut, and install various types of trim, including base cap, base shoe, chair rail, accent panel, and crown molding. These skills are essential in finishing carpentry, where precision and attention to detail are key.
By participating in the KCKCC Construction Program, Cael is gaining real-world experience in an in-demand field while earning credits toward his future. Programs like this provide students with career-focused education that prepares them for immediate job opportunities or further study in the trades.
Lansing USD 469 is proud to support students in pursuing career and technical education opportunities, ensuring they graduate with skills that set them up for success.
