Question: How did your education in our school district influence your career or personal growth?
Answer: Lansing High School played a key role in my success as an adult. While I grew up in a military family which taught be the value of serving my country, LHS instilled a strong sense of work ethic and ownership in my own education and future. Educators encouraged me to dream big and that is exactly what I’ve done and continue to do in life.
Question: Do you have any fond memories or stories from your time at our school district that you’d like to share?
Answer: I have especially fond memories of the strong music programs at LHS. I was very involved with Swing Choir and Concert Choir and loved singing the national anthem at football and basketball games and participating in competitions. Music has always been a big part of my life and that passion began and grew at Lansing High.
Question: What advice would you give to current students who are preparing for their future?
Answer: I wish I had done more research about career paths before I finished high school. There are SO many options, but learning what options are out there and then trying to shadow professionals in interesting fields would have prepared me better for post high school. The other advise I’d give current students is that you don’t have to pick just one thing. I served my country, am a teacher and now, I get to be an author too. Work hard and you can achieve your goals.
