Lansing USD469 is proud to name Brandy Hamilton, seventh-grade Language Arts and Literature teacher at Lansing Middle School, as our 2025 Secondary Teacher of the Year. Brandy is a powerhouse of dedication and impact—an instructional leader, athletic coach, and trusted mentor whose reach extends across the building.
Described by her colleagues as “essential” to LMS, Brandy’s influence is felt in every corner of the school.
“Everything she does is either directly or indirectly helping students achieve more,” one nominator wrote. “She provides creative lessons that engage and captivate students’ attention yet push and motivate them to maximize their learning potential inside her classroom.”
Brandy’s leadership also shines outside the classroom. She leads the seventh-grade ELA Professional Learning Community (PLC), mentors new teachers, coaches basketball and track, serves on multiple committees, and currently hosts a student teacher.
“She has taken on a leadership position with her 7th grade literature team which was much needed after another teacher retired,” one colleague shared.
Her calming presence and student-first mindset are central to her work.
“Mrs. Hamilton is consistently an uplifting force at LMS—with staff and students,” a nominator wrote. “Her instruction is top notch… She advocates for what is best for students at all times. She problem-solves to provide the best education possible and delivers clear, explicit instruction.”
Perhaps most notably, her peers recognize her as a model of professional integrity and care.
“In my professional life, I have never known a better example of dedication and skill, and nobody has had a larger impact on my professional development.”
Congratulations to Brandy Hamilton for being a true leader in Lansing USD469 and an inspiration to students and staff alike.
Mrs. Hamilton will be recognized at the upcoming Honors Breakfast hosted by the Lansing Educational Foundation (LEF), where she will also be awarded a classroom grant to further enhance learning opportunities for her students.
