Aleya Baker, 2nd-Grade Teacher
Question: How long have you worked in Lansing USD469?
Answer: About 8 months, this is my first year year!
Question: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and the role you have within the school district?
Answer: My husband and I have three children, my oldest started kindergarten this year in the district as well. I am very excited to be a part of the district and community that my children will also be a part of and grow up in.
Question: What do you enjoy most about your role and the work you do in the school district?
Answer: Getting to be so involved in my students' day-to-day lives is such a fun thing. I love the academic part of it as well, but getting to build relationships with the students and their families is one of my favorite parts.
Question: When you're not working, what hobbies or activities do you enjoy?
Answer: I have three young children (6, 4, and 1), so most of my free time is spent with them. We are outside whenever we can be, but I also really enjoy reading.
Question: What is something unusual about you that most people don't know?
Answer: I did not get my driver's license until I was 18.
Question: Could you share a particularly heartwarming or memorable experience you've had while working with students or colleagues?
Answer: Even though this is not my first year teaching, a lot of things have been new this year, and my entire team has be super helpful with everything that I have needed and more. Really, all of the colleagues that I work with have been so welcoming and helpful and have made my time I've had with the district so far very enjoyable!
