Math Fair

Lansing Middle School is excited to announce the upcoming 2nd Annual 8th Grade Math Fair, a unique and engaging event designed to help students connect mathematics to real-world careers. Spearheaded by LMS educators Penny Wagner and Miranda Cote, this interactive project provides students with the opportunity to explore how math is used in various jobs and professions through direct community engagement.

As part of the Math Fair experience, each 8th-grade student will be matched with a community member to conduct an interview via email. Students will use the information gathered to write a research-based essay and create a tri-fold display showcasing the role of math in that person’s career. These displays will be presented to fellow students during the school day and to families and guests from 4:00–6:00 PM on May 1 at Lansing Middle School.

To make this event a success, we’re asking for your help! LMS is seeking community members from all industries and backgrounds who are willing to share how they use math in their daily work.
