Ms. Heather Herrig’s third-grade class recently put their skills to the test in the Sunflower State Sprint on IXL, a statewide competition that challenges students to answer as many questions correctly as possible. Throughout February, her students worked hard, showing a mix of competitiveness and sportsmanship as they climbed the leaderboard.
Their hard work paid off—Ms. Herrig’s class placed second in the Pre-K through 4th-grade category, with an incredible average of 1,939.82 questions answered correctly per student!
Although the original prize was only for first place, Ms. Herrig was so proud of her students’ effort that she decided they deserved a well-earned pizza party to celebrate their success. Families of students also played a huge role, offering support throughout the competition and the celebration afterward.
“I couldn’t be more pleased with the amount of support we received from my students' families,” said Ms. Herrig. “The students were so happy with how everything turned out."
Beyond the competition, Ms. Herrig continues to expand her use of IXL in the classroom. She recently attended the IXL Live conference, where she gained valuable insights into new ways to enhance learning through the platform. She’s already started applying what she learned to further engage and challenge her students.
Congratulations to Ms. Herrig’s third-grade class on their outstanding achievement!
