Food trucks!

March is Youth Art Month, a time to celebrate creativity, innovation, and the incredible work of our students! Throughout the month, we’ll be highlighting unique projects happening in our art classrooms.

Today’s Art Spotlight takes us to Mrs. Libby Stevenson’s art room, where students have been diving into the world of food truck design. This engaging project blended marketing, design, and history, encouraging students to think creatively while exploring real-world applications of art.

Students began by discussing branding and customer appeal, analyzing local food trucks to see what makes them successful. They then designed their own food trucks based on their favorite foods, considering what would be most interesting and eye-catching for customers.

Beyond the artistic aspect, the class also explored the history of food trucks, tracing them back to their origins as Chuck Wagons—the mobile kitchens that supported pioneers during westward expansion.

This dynamic lesson was made even more special with the help of Benedictine College student teacher Emma Kaminski, who worked alongside Mrs. Stevenson to bring this project to life.

Stay tuned for more Youth Art Month Spotlights throughout March as we continue to celebrate the incredible artistic talent in our schools!
