We understand that times can be challenging, and we want to ensure that every family in our community has access to the support they need. In addition to our district food pantry and the LMS Lion’s Pantry, there are numerous local and state resources available to help families facing hardship.
Whether you need assistance with food, rent, utilities, behavioral health support, or parenting resources, help is available. Below are just a few of the organizations that can provide support:
Food Assistance:
Local Food Pantries and Free Community Meals: Available in Leavenworth County.
SUN Bucks (Summer EBT): A program to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer. Families receive a one-time benefit of $120 per year for each eligible child to help buy groceries.
Financial & Utility Support: Get help with rent, utility bills, and essential household needs.
Behavioral Health & Crisis Support:

The Guidance Center (TGC) offers outpatient therapy, psychiatry services, case management, and crisis stabilization for adults and children in Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties. Parenting & Family Services:
1-800-Children Kansas Helpline: A free and confidential service connecting parents with local resources and guidance.
Healthy Families Kansas: Free support for expecting and new parents to strengthen their parenting skills and reduce stress.
FAST (Family Advocacy, Support, & Training): Helps parents navigate special education, IEP meetings, and community resources for children with special needs.
General Community Services: The Leavenworth Helpful Agencies Guide connects families with organizations that provide housing assistance, mental health services, transportation, legal aid, and more.
