Instructional Coaches

At Lansing Elementary School and Lansing Intermediate School, instructional coaches Jenny Nickelson and Caroline Reynolds are dedicated to helping teachers succeed and students thrive. Their energy and initiative are making a big impact across the district.

Recently, Jenny and Caroline attended a three-day workshop hosted by Greenbush titled "Putting Writing Into Practice." Focused on improving writing instruction for all grade levels, the duo immediately saw an opportunity to share what they learned. They created a "Sip and Learn" event, combining fun with professional growth, to provide teachers with practical strategies they could use right away.

"We wanted to share the strategies with teachers right away," Jenny said. "The Sip and Learn format makes it both educational and enjoyable."

Jenny and Caroline go beyond workshops to support teachers with behavior management techniques, instructional strategies, and personalized coaching. Their focus is on helping teachers create classrooms where every student feels supported and challenged.

"Our goal is to make teachers better for our students," Caroline explained. "When we coach teachers, it's about building strong, effective learning environments."

With more Sip and Learn events planned, Jenny and Caroline are committed to sharing new ideas throughout the year. Their efforts align with Lansing School District's Strategic Plan, specifically under the Positive Culture goal area. By enhancing personalized professional learning opportunities for all faculty and staff that align with district goals and initiatives, they are contributing to a collaborative and supportive learning community.

Thank you, Jenny and Caroline, for helping our teachers be the best they can be!
