Turkey artwork

This Thanksgiving season, third-grade students at Lansing Elementary School embraced the holiday spirit with creative activities led by their teachers. The festivities began with students reading Thanksgiving poems by Jack Prelutsky.

Adding to the fun, the students learned and performed a Thanksgiving song, showcasing their enthusiasm and holiday cheer. Scroll down to watch a video of Mrs. Turner's class.

The heart of the project was the creation of "compliment turkeys." Each student received five feathers to pass out to their classmates, writing a compliment on each one. At the end of the activity, every student had a colorful turkey with five heartfelt compliments. This simple yet impactful activity left students feeling uplifted and appreciated, embodying the true spirit of Thanksgiving.

By engaging in these activities, our third graders developed language and social-emotional skills and fostered a deeper sense of community and kindness.
