Question: How long have you worked in Lansing USD469?
Answer: 3 months- 1st school year
Question: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and the role you have within the school district?
Answer: Hello, my name is Jenna Davidson, and I am currently a 3rd grade teacher at LES. Although this is my first year in the classroom, I have discovered a deep passion for teaching and feel fortunate to work with such an amazing group of students. While the job presents its challenges, I truly love what I do and look forward to continuing my growth as an educator. Family is very important to me, and I am grateful for the love and support of my parents, as well as my sister, brother, two nieces, and nephew.
When my nieces and nephew visit, we always do a variety of fun activities together. I also have a 4-year-old golden retriever named Mia, who brings a lot of joy into my life with her gentle and loving nature. I enjoy playing frisbee with her and going for walks. In addition to teaching, I am also pursuing my master’s degree. I am currently halfway through the program and, if all goes as planned, I will graduate next year with a degree as a Reading Instructional Specialist, with an emphasis in autism.
Question: What do you enjoy most about your role and the work you do in the school district?
Answer: I am fortunate to work with an incredible staff and an amazing team. We collaborate effectively, and I continuously learn from their experience and knowledge. Two of the most rewarding aspects of my work are building strong connections with my students and witnessing the moments when they understand new concepts and develop a sense of confidence in their learning. These moments bring me so much satisfaction, as they help me see that I am making a positive impact. I firmly believe that making meaningful relationships with students is essential, because it sets the foundation for true learning to flourish.
Question: When you're not working, what hobbies or activities do you enjoy?
Answer: I really enjoy to Kayak in the summer. When I have time, I try to read and watch the show Friends.
Question: What is something unusual about you that most people don't know?
Answer: I had a sprained my left ankle. I was finally cleared to go back to work. As I was going to work, I fell down the stairs, and broke my right leg in half. I also re-injured my left ankle and had a small "crack" in that ankle.
Question: Could you share a particularly heartwarming or memorable experience you've had while working with students or colleagues?
Answer: I had a student who was gone for a few days about a month into school. He is a little shy and gets nervous around others. I was still trying hard to build a relationship with him. As he walked in the classroom door, when he returned from being gone, I said "I am so happy you are back!" He then responded saying "You are?" he look very confused. I said "Of course I am, I missed you and I love you." He then gave me the biggest smile and hug. I have never experienced something like this. That day was a day, I will never forget.
Question: What piece of advice would you like to offer to students to help them succeed and make the most of their educational journey?
