Julie Fink, Daycare Program Director

Question: How long have you worked for Lansing USD469?

Answer:  1 year.

Question: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and the role you have within the school district?

Answer: I'm program director of Lansing's littlest lions at Lansing Preschool and Child Care Center. I typically start my days and end them by engaging with families. Throughout the day I'm in and out of classrooms, assisting teachers and kiddos in any way I can. I'm responsible for ensuring our program adheres to our state license rules and regulations.

Question: What do you enjoy most about your role and the work you do in the school district?

Answer:  Providing a caring and nurturing environment for families to send their kiddos is incredibly rewarding! Building relationships with families and their children has a positive impact on our community, laying the groundwork for children and their lifelong success.

Question:  What is something unusual about you that most people don't know?

Answer: We have 8 goats and a sheep. Four goats are Boer goats and four are mini Pygmy goats. As we were going to buy one of our goats, the seller called and said his best friend was a sheep and offered the sheep to us. We accepted the sheep and named him Marvin. They're all super entertaining and keep us laughing!

Question: Could you share a particularly heartwarming or memorable experience you've had while working with students or colleagues?

Answer: Watching the kiddos we care for come out of their shells has always been the best feeling! We sometimes have children and/or families that start off anxious about attending and it's so great to see the turn around after a day or two. Being a part of a child's social and emotional growth is such a special thing to experience!

Question: When you're not working, what hobbies or activities do you enjoy?

Answer: My husband and I enjoy watching our 8 and 9 year old girls play softball during the summer. As a family, we enjoy gardening, fishing, and swimming. During the winter, I enjoy unwinding by doing puzzles and other crafty hobbies by a cozy fire.

Question: What piece of advice would you like to offer to students to help them succeed and make the most of their educational journey?

Answer: Make good choices, be a kind friend, and always think about whether your words and/or actions are being helpful or hurtful. Students are responsible for keeping themselves safe and our job is to help keep it that way.
