Lansing USD469 is thrilled to announce Nicole Delich as its 2024 Elementary Teacher of the Year. Ms. Delich is a kindergarten teacher who stands out for her hard work and dedication to the students in Lansing USD469. She will be recognized for her achievement at the Lansing Educational Foundation Honors Breakfast on Friday, May 3rd. Delich will receive a grant for $250 to be used at Lansing Elementary School as part of her award.
Ms. Delich was nominated for her outstanding work and positive attitude:
"Kindergarten teachers are some of the hardest working individuals in the world. They are always 'on.' They welcome our 5 and 6 (sometimes 7) year olds, many of whom are experiencing formal education for the first time, into their classrooms with open minds and hearts. In less than a year, these students, who many times came in without knowing their alphabet or numbers, are able to blend letters to form words and count to 100 by the end of the year. In recent years students have also come to kindergarten with a greater amount of social-emotional and behavioral needs. The needs of classes look different from year to year. Kindergarten classes can be challenging. At times teachers have classes with challenging behaviors for more than one year. It takes a special teacher who can work equally hard at providing academic instruction and behavioral instruction. For this reason, Nicole Delich is my nomination for the 23-24 teacher of the year. Nicole teaches students in a way that motivates them to work hard and want to do well. Nicole has the ability to remain calm even when one of our youngest learners is having a meltdown (sometimes more than once during the day). Nicole is kind and calm and collaborates with colleagues and families on how to best meet the needs of our students. It is a pleasure to nominate Nicole Delich as teacher of the year!
Congratulations, Nicole Delich, on your well-deserved recognition as the 2024 Elementary Teacher of the Year! We are truly grateful for your dedication and the positive impact you have had on our school and students.
