On the morning of Tuesday, May 21st, Lansing Middle School's sixth graders participated in an annual end-of-year educational event titled "The Amazing Race." Inspired by the popular TV show, this classroom edition featured a unique twist designed to engage students in a series of challenges across the four core subjects: Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
Teachers divided students into groups of three, each tasked with completing various challenges in every sixth-grade classroom, which hosted three to four stations. The event was organized to ensure a smooth flow of activities and a fair competition. After completing a challenge, volunteers signed off on the students' activity cards, which then had to be stamped at a central location in the sixth-grade commons area before the team could proceed to the next challenge.
Any student caught displaying unsportsmanlike conduct was sent to a penalty box for a set period, reinforcing the importance of fair play and respect among competitors.
The first five teams to successfully complete all challenges were awarded prizes after all of the students had finished.
This event would not have been possible without the help of our volunteers. Their time and effort were instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of the race and its overall success.
Thank you to our volunteers for helping, our teachers for organizing, and our students for being fantastic competitors! Great work to everyone involved!
